ABRA S. POINDEXTER, C.M.S.W., L.M.H.P.

Abra is a trained psychotherapist in private practice with WTLC. For more than 12 years, her passion has been working with women's issues, families, diversity, and mental health. Abra maintains a full time practice with WTLC working with women, men, and adolescents in indivual, couple and group psychotherapy addressing issues of trauma, mental health, gender and sexual orientation issues, and relationship problems. Additionally, Abra provides consultation and supervision regarding women's issues, sexual trauma, orientation issues and mental health. Previously, Abra directed The Salvation Army Wellspring Program for individuals escaping prostitution and recovering from sexual trauma, addictions, and mental health issues. Additionally, Abra worked with adolescents and their families at Uta Halee Girls Village for nine years. Abra earned her Masters in Social Work degree, with an emphasis in Mental Health, from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Abra has post-graduate training in Feminist Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Trauma Recovery, gender and orientation issues, Jungian Psychotherapy, and addictions. As a member of the Dignity Cooperative for 3 years, she worked to educate the community about sex trade, mental health, and trauma. She has served on the execuative committee for the Omaha Friends of Jung and currently volunteers for the HelpingHer Giving Circle.
