MEGAN SMITH, MS, LMHP, LPCMegan received her Masters of Science degree in Counseling and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Family Studies/Women and Gender Studies. Along with her psychotherapy practice, Megan is an adjunct faculty member at Creighton University in the Graduate department. Megan has a diverse background in her interests and experiences, working in the areas of:
Furthermore, one of the areas Megan has extensive experience in is her work with gender variance. Megan has been dedicated to providing services to the transgender community for ten years. She is a member of WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health) and has received training all over the world. In February 2006, Megan began a transgender young adult group, which is a psycho-educational/support group. In May 2009, Megan founded the Professional Transgender Network, which is a multidisciplinary team of professionals, dedicated to making Nebraska a more inclusive state for our transgender community through education and advocacy. In addition, Megan has been committed to improving the Omaha community, as evidenced by her involvement in such organizations as: the Dignity Cooperative (a task force she co-founded fighting to end prostitution), the Nebraska HIV Care and Prevention Consortium, Helpher (a giving circle) and Trauma Informed Nebraska. Megan is currently accepting referrals for individual, couples and family therapy, speaking engagements and consultation.
